HOWEVER, when I go back to model space, I now also see the border (which is a big problem!). I can do so (with the viewport window active/dbl clicked) by inserting it into the viewport. My problem is that I would like to insert a border dwg file as a block into the layout view. I am new to layout views, though I now have a viewport up and have set the printer, paper and scale etc and have the cad inside the viewport window positioned etc. One last tip: Apparently, when plotting with transparency, it takes longer because AutoCADВ processesВ the plot as a picture instead of plotting it as вЂњvectorizedвЂќ lines and arcs.

In the вЂњPlotвЂќ dialog box, make sure that the вЂњPlot TransparencyвЂќ check-box is checked.

This setting is great but if you plot/print, you may not see the transparency in the plot. (The picture below shows the TYP вЂњtransparencyвЂќ button in the status bar) If you do not see the effect, make sure that the TYP button is turned on in the status bar & make sure that the viewport is activated when setting the transparency value.

Now close the Layers Manager and you will see the transparency take efffect.

If you want to have 2 viewports and want them to have a common alignment point (horizontal or vertical) then use the вЂњAlignвЂќ option of MVSETUP. So if you want to match the rotation of objects that are in different spaces, use ALIGNSPACE. I probably use the MVSETUP command differently than you, I use it as a way to set my UNITS, and LIMITS in Model Space if a drawing doesnвЂ™t already have them set.Д®ach tool has its strengths. The Align option in the MVSETUP command allows you to align a view in two different viewports by activating one viewport at a time and picking a point. It is also better to use this tool when you want to rotate a view to be aligned to the other object.
